Karenia Brevis A.K.A. RED TIDE is an algae bloom that kills fish when levels are concentrated.  Scientists are studying the blooms and the causes.  Rainwater runoff containing high levels of nitrogen from urban areas is suspected to stimulate the blooms.  This situation continues to be a unpopular topic with environmental officials that seem to know about the problem, but also understand the expense involved with addressing the issue.
